Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1: Can I apply from abroad?
Yes, we accept international applications, and most interviews are done online.
Question 2: I am an international student, with qualifications that aren’t GCSEs, what do I do?
If you have received your qualifications, you will need to apply for a conversion of the grades prior to being enrolled, and in some cases, before being offered an interview. Please use the link https://www.enic.org.uk/Qualifications/SOC/Default.aspx Statement of Comparability (enic.org.uk) to apply for this. During June-August this can take up to 3 months for completion.
Question 3: Why do I have to provide ID and does it have to be provided before enrolment?
We require all students to provide ID before they enrol so we can confirm the information that you are supplying to us. For any student to enrol, we will require the documents in advance.
Question 4: What qualifies as ID?
A passport or short birth certificate, where your legal name and DOB are clearly visible.
Question 5: My exams are coming up, so I don’t have a new school report.
Before interview we will require the most up to date report, so if you have applied for a place with us with a year 10 report, a new one will need to be submitted prior to the interview. If you can’t attach it to your application, please email it to Sixthform.info@plumsteadmanor.com
Question 6: Do I have to enter all of my GCSE grades?
Yes, regardless of whether they would be required for entry onto your chosen courses, we require evidence of all of the GCSE’s that you are currently studying, regardless of the grade.
Question 7: Who can I have as a referee?
Your referee should be someone that can provide basic education knowledge of you i.e. a teacher, tutor or Head of Year. Please do not put anyone that would simply be acting as a character reference.
Question 8: What will the referee be asked about me?
They will be asked to confirm the predicted grades that you have entered, whether you are suitable for your courses, as well as information around your attendance, punctuality and whether you need any extra support for exams/study etc.
Question 9: I have submitted an application, but I have heard nothing back.
Don’t panic, as soon as an application is submitted, the process of its checking is started. The Sixth Form team may be in touch if any further information is required. If we have all of the information required, once we have also received your referee’s response we will invite you to interview via Teams or over the phone.
Question 10: I have had my interview, what happens next?
During the interview you will been sent an offer, please accept this if you wish to continue your application with us, to then be able to complete the last part of the application.
Question 11: I missed my interview, what do I do?
Not to worry, please contact Sixthform.info@plumsteadmanor.com and we will reset your interview booking for you so you can pick a new time slot.
Question 12: I can’t attend on enrolment days, what do I do?
At all costs, we would suggest that you do attend the enrolment sessions in August to confirm your place. If this is not possible, we can organise an online meeting via Teams or the phone, please email Sixthform.info@plumsteadmanor.com to book this. Please make sure you have completed the enrolment form online & and have access to your results and the internet at the time of the appointment.
Question 13: How does enrolment work?
Once you have your results, complete the enrolment form online and we will require you to come and attend one of our enrolment days to confirm your choices. All places are offered on a first come first serve basis.
Question 14: I have just missed out on my grades, what happens?
Please still attend enrolment day, we may still consider you for the course based on other information or be able to offer you other subjects.
Question 15: When will you close enrolment for September 2024?
All new students will have to be enrolled with us by Friday 13th September 2024, we will not accept new students after this point.
Question 16: Can I re-take GCSE Maths and English Language?
If it doesn’t affect your entry onto your chosen courses, and fits within your timetable, this would be possible.
